Challenge Rob / Driving Them Crazy

initial year since brides book their wedding transport 18 months in advance and having few weddings in the first year of trading. In fact, business proved brisk and Kevin added a further black limo’ a year later, by which time each was booked for numerous weddings, plus the usual proms, restaurant trips, and a slew of hen nights, stag nights and birthday celebrations. That led the businessman to launch Lincolnshire Wedding Cars, a sister company dedicated to serving the bridal market. A comprehensive website for each business exists packed with plenty of pictures for prospective passengers.
My first job upon arriving at Boston Limoscene’s head office was to prepare each vehicle. Whilst by no means averse to hard work, it’s almost impossible to state just how much more ‘car’ there is to clean when faced with two limos, compared to the usual Saturday morning spruce up of the Lincolnshire Pride Land Rover… and with the two 30ft vehicles finally sparkling on the outside and chamois leathered dry, it was time to step inside and prepare the vehicle for that evening’s clients, thoroughly vacuuming each, polishing the leather upholstery, restocking the minibar and replenishing the vehicle’s glasses.
With each limo’ prepared, it was time to attack Kevin’s three other vehicles. The company runs a Mercedes C-Class, purchased in 2006 and a Beauford Open Tourer, too. The latter is a 1930s style car with soft top, suitable for four passengers wanting to make a graceful arrival at the church or, as was the case during our visit, celebrate a diamond wedding anniversary with a car from the period.
His final and most recent vehicle, purchased late last year, is an Auburn Boattail passenger car suitable for three passengers with its soft top and gorgeous retro 1950s hot rod styling.
The vehicle is one of only a couple in the UK and is so unique that it’s already proving extremely popular with prom-goers and those who know their motor cars as the ultimate in unusual vehicles for making a grand entrance.
With each motor valeted inside and out, prepared for the evening’s passengers and with the necessary checks of the oil, fuel, water, tyres, and checks of the passengers’ heating and entertainment systems all complete, it was time to set off and collect our passengers – a two limousine 40th birthday party on its way to a restaurant.
